SARAH CHARLTON

Co Founder

Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Her career spans over 30 years working within the legal sector for both small and medium sized law firms, fulfilling roles from practice manager through to COFA. During her career she has worked with a number of legal regulators, professional bodies and government organisations.

Sarah has been a member of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management throughout her career, qualifying as a Fellow member in 2005. Sarah also served as chairperson between 2010-2012 and served as an Executive Council Member until March 2024. Sarah was also a trainer, tutor and examiner having won the “Wilfred Owen” award for her dissertation of “Practice Management within a Law Firm”. Sarah has also received the “Aron Bowl” twice during her career for voluntary contributions to the profession.

Before starting a family in 2009 Sarah was an Army Reservist, having served overseas to include a number of operational tours: serving in Bosnia and Iraq where her financial management experience was utilised by the Coalition Provisional Authority. Sarah dealt directly with local ministers to assist and oversee the budgets for all local provinces within the southern region of Iraq.

Sarah thrives on opportunities to share her knowledge and experience with others whilst bringing value through improvements and efficiencies which aligned well with her more recent role as Chief Executive Officer. She is often referred to by her peers as the Mary Poppins of the profession!

JAMES WRIGHT

Co Founder

James’ career in Legal Finance spans over 25 years. Working in medium to large law firms, managing their legal finance functions.
His knowledge and experience in understanding the SRA Accounts Rules has enabled him to provide extensive support to the COFA and build processes and procedures to enable compliance.
James has managed a large number of SRA audits, resulting in no material breach reports being submitted to the SRA.
James measures his success in Legal Finance on the teams he has managed, being a mentor and support to them to enable their own success.
James has also been a Tutor for the Institute of Legal Finance and Management for their Diploma course, which during his time saw the number of students passing their final exam rise to 90%.
James has also written practice and guidance notes both internally and for external clients and legal software providers.
His awards include employee of year, office go to for two years, support team of the year and the Institute of Legal Finance and Management Aran bowl winner for outstanding contribution to the Institute.

CALLUM JAMES

Consultant

Callum started his legal finance career in 2018 when he joined a Pembrokeshire law firm, playing an integral role within the finance team and still works today.

Callum completed his Business Administration qualification in July 2019. He also passed The Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) bookkeeping diploma in November 2021 with distinction and subsequently became an award winner. Callum passed his ILFM Part Two paper in June 2023.

LINDA LAMBERT

Trainer/Consultant

Linda has been working in accounts since she left school. This has included work for and with solicitors for over 30 of those years. Working in differing sized practices as an employee or consultant and has used many types of accounting systems. Linda has delivered training in book keeping, final accounts since 2001, and the now SRA Accounts Rules. Linda still works in practice on a part time basis.

SHANE RATHBONE

Consultant

Shane is our dedicated website editor at BlueSky who ensures our website is updated and user friendly. Outside of Bluesky, Shane is currently pursuing a law degree.
